8 Days safari Rwanda exploration.

Day 1: Kigali city tour & transfer to Akagera National Park

The company driver /guide will pick you at your hotel in Kigali or at the Airport , brief you about your trip and continue for a city tour in the Kigali. Places to tour include the 1994 Gisozi Genocide Memorial site, local arts and crafts shops, Kigali Museum and learn the history of Kigali and Rwanda’s pre-colonial and colonial period plus the colonial masters in Rwanda. Later in the afternoon, you will start the journey to Akagera National park (3hrs), arrive in time for a boat ride on lake Ihema, dinner and overnight at Akagera game lodge / Ruzizi Tented Camp.

Day 2: Akagera National Park Explore

Enjoy your breakfast at the lodge and drive to the south of the park for an amazing  game drive which will reward you with Rwanda wild life experience, alongside there is  Lake Ihema circuit where a quite number of  animals can be seen, such as  Elephants, Masai Giraffes, Buffaloes, Zebras, Hippos, Nile Crocodiles and also many other mammal species. This game drive will also enable you to openly sight the gentle hills amalgamating stunningly with low-lying swamps and water bodies. You will break off for lunch and later proceed for the another game drive in the northern side and expect to encounter a number of water animals, water birds around the shores of the lake. You will be able to see animals such as hippos, crocodiles and even more wildlife than on the lake circuit. Dinner and overnight at Akagera Game Lodge / Ruzizi Tented Camp.

Day 3: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Breakfast at the lodge and transfer to Volcanoes National park via Kigali. This is a imaginary route since it involves moving through beautiful rolling hills that characterize much of Rwanda. You may stop over for photographing, upon reaching the volcano’s, check into the lodge and spend rest of your evening at your hotel . Dinner and overnight at Le Bambou Gorilla Lodge / Mountain gorilla view lodge / Sabyinyo silverback lodge

Day 4: Gorilla Tracking Adventure

After your Breakfast and drive to the park headquarters with packed lunch and enough water for a short briefing about gorilla tracking. From here you will move into the forest with your guides in search for gorillas. Trekking for these Gentle giants in the mountain ranges is a bit strenuous and challenging depending on which gorilla group have allocated for you to track during the briefing at the park headquarters. The tracking hours are never exact but we assume that it can take 2-8hours depending on the movement of the apes. After the trekking , you will drive to lake kivu from where you will spend the rest of your evening . Overnight at Paradise Marahide Hotel or Serena Hotel lake Kivu on the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Kivu/Boat

Have breakfast then transfer to Gisenyi on the shores of Lake Kivu. Enjoy a boat ride to the Hot springs; relax on the beach in the evening. Overnight at Paradise Marahide Hotel or Serena Hotel Lake Kivu on the shores of Lake Kivu.

Day 6: Transfer to Nyungwe Forest (Home of primates)

Nyungwe forest is comprised of several residents which include montane forests, bamboos, grasslands, and swamps. This is a home to over 13 primate species such as Chimpanzees, endangered Golden monkeys, Blue Monkeys, colobus, red tailed monkeys and grey checked mangabey. There are also about 300 bird species. Relax in the evening as we wait for dinner and Overnight at Gisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Hill Top View Hotel / Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 7: Chimpanzee & Colobus Monkey Trekking Expedition or Canopy walk

Have breakfast and go into Nyungwe forest in search for 13 primate’s species and over 300 bird species, making it a bird watcher’s heaven. Nyungwe Forest is one of the places in the world where you can see up to 13 primates’ species; these include chimpanzees, the Blue Monkeys, L’Hoest’s Monkeys, endangered golden monkeys and the Angolan black and white Colobus Monkeys among others. Nyungwe forest has vast population of habituated primates whose flocks can include 400 to 500 folks. This is a exclusive tourism sensation. Drive back to your lodge for lunch and relax at the lodge, relax after lunch or you mat decided to  go for colobus monkey tracking or canopy walk in Nyungwe Forest. Dinner and overnight at Gisakura Guest House / Nyungwe Hill top View Hotel / Nyungwe Forest Lodge.

Day 8: Nyungwe – Butare – Kigali

Depart for Kigali after breakfast, visit the Rwanda genocide memorial in Butare town, proceed  the National Museum,  stop over for lunch and continue to Step Town Motel / Kigali Serena hotel in Kigali where the tour ends.
