Musanze caves are one of the new tourism places in Rwanda; the cave is located in Ruhengeri, Northern Province in Rwanda in Musanze District and is being organized for visitors by mounting walkways, stairs, and safety measures. Most of the caves in Rwanda are developed from Cenozoic volcanic rocks for example Manjari which is 1.660 m together with Nyiragihima in Ruhengeri which 1.116 m (Northern Province). It is adventurous to go into a huge and wide hole that is 1.25 mile long, the lace has been popular because of that great adventurous feeling that one gets as you enter the cave.
Musanze is most a visited cave in Rwanda with 2 km long; it is found in the volcanic region where lava flow layers courting from 65 million years ago to today have formed the Albertine Rift Valley.
Musanze cave is molded from lava basaltic layers from the Bisoke and Sabyinyo volcanoes. The cave entrance is huge, beyond 10 km and it is well equivalent with numerous sideways leading off from the main cave.
A cave or cavern is a natural underground space big enough for a human to enter. Some people suggest that the term cave should only relate to a hole that has section which can never get day light, however, in popular usage; the names should be rock shelters, grottos or sea caves\
The 2km Musanze cave can be visited after gorilla trekking in Parc des National Volcans if you can get. The place is positioned on the bottoms of Volcanoes national park; therefore one can easily move to tour the place.
Speleology is the science of exploration and study of all features of caves and the surroundings which borders the caves. Exploring a cave for recreation or science may be called caving, potholing.
Away from touring the cave, visitors who come to Rwanda can as well feed their eyes with variety of other fascinations among which includes; Buhanga Eco park famous for the coronation of Rwanda former kings, karisimbi mountain hiking, visiting Dian Fossey grave, gorilla tracking, golden monkey trekking and chimpanzee and you can also drive to see twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo.
